During my stay in Beijing, I asked an expert of Chinese Martial Arts, a Mexican living in Beijing, Antonio Flores to engage for me Martial Arts research regarding the word KUN-TAI-KO. This word combination, after statements of my master Norbert Punzet, and he got it from the founder of this style Lucien Victor Ott, mean "powerful little body"! Giving master Flores this reference, he opened himself in order to research the deeper meaning and investigate the origin where it comes from. Toni is a teacher at the international school in Beijing and graduated as a previously only foreign Wushu-teacher through the "Chinese Physical Education University"! He read for 20 years the book of variations or like it in the original title "Book Of Changes"!
It is worldwide known as ”I-Ging” in special bookstores an with international Martial Arts suppliers. In order to understand this book, one must be in the situation to be able to read and understand the meaning of the Asian Philosophy to be able to read between the lines. There are only very few persons dedicated themselves to the I-Ging, this very difficult book. Tony is one of them. The book actually comes from the Zhou dynasty and describe, being based on the flows of Yang principle to the interaction of the Yin. Here now the decoding of the word combination KUN-TAI-KO:
The Chinese character "KUN" be to be equated Yin, that weakened and yield and appear as the second Hexagram of the Yi Jing. Taiko is a phonetic variant of a south Chinese dialect and be written in Pinjin "DAGUO". A concept the Richard Wilhem, used and as follows described will can to that. The word GUO has many meaning and can be described therefore not exactly with a western word. In above mentioned connection it such meanings like:
Decent of these important meaning, it has to be diverted, that it appears as a type of excess. At
the end it has exceed the meaning to exceed each meaning/. This Hexagram is about condition transition moment extraordinary or extraordinary.
(I Ching. The translation of Richard Wilhem and Ed
Arkana, England, 3rd edition, page 704)
DAGUO, the 28th Hexagram in the Book Of Changes explains the predominating/exceeding of somewhat
larger. It states that the large importance of a situation can be exceeded by somewhat even larger.
"The roof beam of a house on that the total roof lies, will be collapsing always to the point, that is weakest, for the deceit power for the load on that laying, is not sufficient.
Therefore it is necessary to produce a passing condition, in order to work against the entire. That means, one must step in action and/or act quickly and powerful".
(Op. Quotation page 111)
In this example exists the weakness against a hopeless situation and causes a change in which it brings the strength out of balance. With other words, also a weak person in such a situation is able by inserting of energy or technology to successfully be able to master a difficult situation. The weakness becomes strong!
